Heartland by Simon Snaize

So there I was minding my own business, being entertained by several musicians at an Acoustic Gathering in the metropolis of The City of York. Enticed to the venue by Chris Helmes’ musical abilities, to be encouraged by the same to await this guy called Simon Snaize to give a rendition of his vocal talents and guitarmanship. Well, I wasn’t disappointed to say the least and so acquired a cd by fare means or foul.
Luckily, his music can not be pigeon holed like a lot of music around. He has the musical ability and wordmanship to knit a pattern in your mind that your mother would be proud of. The Heartland album is full of words that will hit on anybody that has been in love, thought they were in love, had a relationship or gained a reaction from another human being.
Wrapped with melodies, that promotes an emotion within a part of each of us, which we secretly hide away from others that might see. As I said to another Singer/Songwriter, (yes, it was you Chris), the melody is for the heart but the words are for your soul. On this album, Simon has embodied this idea, giving us an insight to his life, his loves with the gentle portrayal as in Bring Your Armour Down to the hurt of One Hand, living with the insecurities that is Heartland to the emotional quicksand of Grounds of Love.
Hear it for yourself, for those that have been down that road evoke the memories, for those that haven’t, heed the warnings, but for most just listen and let an emotion loose!
